Saumik Biswas, PhD, is currently the CEO, President and founder of Tenomix, a medical technology company that focuses on developing novel technologies that improve inefficiencies in the pathology workflow, optimize cancer care, and reduce healthcare costs. He is also a former Medical Innovation Fellow, where he worked with an interdisciplinary team to develop innovative medical technologies for unique healthcare problems. Saumik holds a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Western University (London, ON, Canada). Saumik was named as a young trailblazer and one of London’s Top 20 in their 20s by Business London, and he was featured on the front cover of Schulich’s School of Medicine and Dentistry Alumni Rapport Magazine at Western University. In a short period of time, he helped secure >$4M in non-dilutive and dilutive funding for all of the projects he has been involved with (including recently raising an oversubscribed all-Canadian $2M+ Seed round in turbulent market conditions), published 16 manuscripts (including book chapters), won several prestigious awards and successfully established several clinical partnerships with top-tier North American hospitals. He is a highly enthusiastic and innovative scientist-entrepreneur that is passionate about translational research and has over 6 years of experience developing novel diagnostic and therapeutic solutions. His previous graduate research involved elucidating the interplay between epigenetics and disease pathogenesis in diabetic complications and other diseases (e.g., cancer), with a particular focus on utilizing non-coding RNA molecules as new diagnostic and therapeutic targets. He has extensive experience with the life science commercialization process, market research, several cell culture techniques, animal models, handling sensitive human samples, fundraising, clinical testing strategy, IP strategy, and technology validation. On his spare time, Saumik enjoys several activities: volunteering for local and international causes, mentoring, reading about various topics, travelling, hiking, writing, trying out new cuisines, and spending time with family and friends.
