Before joining FX HedgePool in April 2022, Townsend Smith had a 20+ year record of success at Brown Brothers Harriman in high-profile and critical assignments, spanning banking and capital markets.  Townsend began his financial services career in corporate finance and commercial banking.  During the financial crisis, Townsend turned his attention to leading workouts of distressed corporate loans, completing his time in the role with significant, overall net realized gains. Later, he transitioned to capital markets, where, amongst other assignments, he held overall responsibility for successfully navigating the post-financial crisis regulatory transition and for risk management and balance sheet management across the firm’s global capital markets businesses.

Townsend has an MBA from Wharton, a BA from Trinity College and is a CFA Charter holder.  He resides in New York City with his wife and three children.
