Sarah Jay brings over twenty years of experience in all areas of fashion media. Her styling and sustainability work can be seen in the pages of Harper’s Bazaar, VOGUE, FASHION, Elle Canada, InStyle, Schön, ZINK, I-D, Coveteur, Marie Claire and more.
Television credits include Canada’s Next Top Model, Eat Yourself Sexy, Look-A-Like and Project Runway Canada. Celebrity clients include Fergie, Adam Levine, Penelope Cruz and Justin Bieber.
Her artistic flare and insightful commentary have made her a natural on camera, working as resident fashion expert for Cosmopolitan TV, and red carpet correspondent for Getty/Wireimage and iTunes.
In 2007 Sarah began working with Fashion Takes Action, an NGO advancing sustainability throughout the fashion system through events like Design Forward and the World Ethical Apparel Roundtable (WEAR) and educational programs like My Clothes, My World. Sarah has supported FTA as creative director and active board member producing all fashion and runway events, and collaborating with industry to change the way we create and consume fashion.
She was also a member of Environmental Defence’s Just Beautiful Campaign cabinet, working to inform consumers about the risks of cosmetic toxins. Most recently Sarah consulted on ED’s Rethink Dry Cleaning campaign engaging industry as to the importance of this safer alternative.
Sarah's first feature documentary, TOXIC BEAUTY, which addresses the harms of unregulated toxins in personal care products, was nominated for an International Emmy, and inspired a resurgence in public outcry regarding the continued sale of talcum powder, leading to an unprecedented ban of baby powder in North America and subsequently the rest of the world.
Following her passion for product safety, labelling efficacy and animal rights, Sarah recently lead the largest market study to date on the cosmetic use of shark squalene. As a continuation of this work, Sarah has founded All Earthlings, a consultancy that helps brands to illuminate and eliminate ingredients of undisclosed animal origin in their supply chains.
