David Unsworth

David co-founded Information VP in 2014 as a spin-out of RBC Venture Partners from Royal Bank of Canada. David joined RBC Venture Partners in 2001 and has led direct investments in a broad range of successful enterprise, Fin Tech, security, and mobile ventures for more than two decades.

David currently serves on the board of directors of Cinchy, Coconut Software, Knowtions Research, LendingFront and an observer to the board of BigID. David managed the investment and served on the board of Verafin (NASDQ), Sensibill (Q2), eSentire (Warburg Pincus), Igloo (acquired by Frontier Capital), Viigo Inc (acquired by RIMM), and was an observer on the board of Varicent Software (acquired by IBM), Tacit Software Inc.(acquired by ORCL) and Lumeta Corporation.

Prior to his career in venture capital David had a successful career in operating roles focused on e-commerce strategy development, technology enabled financial services product development, technology project management and retail/commercial financial services.

David is an active in the start-up community in Toronto, Waterloo and Montreal as a mentor to participants in accelerator programs. David previously served as an advisor to the RBC Generator Fund with a focus on Social Impact Investments. David an original member/co-founder and past Chair of the Financial Services Venture Capital Alliance (www.fsvca.org).

David earned an MBA from Queen's University, holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University. He is also a graduate of the NVCA's Venture Capital Institute, the Rotman SME Board Effectiveness Program and the BDC's GP Academy.
