Tarek is a Frontline Primary Care, Community, Clinical & Compounding Pharmacist, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and a Healthcare Management Consultant who provides comprehensive pharmacy services, including specialty compounding, medication therapy and disease state management, immunization, point-of-care and pharmacogenetics testing, deprescribing, and prescribing for smoking cessation and minor ailments. Tarek is a recognized expert and trainer as an Ontario College of Pharmacists' Preceptor and an Assessor. He is training other pharmacists on standards of practice regarding delivering safe medication practices, evidence-based decision-making, and legislative framework and regulations governing the pharmacy profession in Ontario. Tarek is a strong community leader who supports community organizations, including serving as the 2021 board Chair of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce and vice-president of the board of directors of KEYS Job Centre. Tarek is proud of being a social responsibility leader in his community and the pharmacy profession. He believes in and advocates for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigeneity, and Accessibility. Given his expertise in this area, Tarek was invited to be a founding Kingston Workplace Inclusion Charter member and sat on the advisory committee as a practicing expert who leads by example. He is also recognized for being a living-wage champion at the provincial level. Sustainability is also personally important to Tarek, and his leadership was identified through a prominent award by Sustainable Kingston. Furthermore, at the national level, Tarek is a founding member of PIVOT, a sustainability initiative of McGill University. For all of the above contributions, Tarek has been named by the Ottawa Business Journal as one of the "power people" of Eastern Ontario. Tarek is also a member of the Canadian Pharmacists Association, Ontario Pharmacists Association, Society of Cannabis Clinicians, International Society of Cannabis Pharmacists, Canadian Social Prescribing Student Collective, and the Canadian Institute of Management. He's also the Chief Development Officer at the International Social Prescribing Pharmacists Association (ISPPA) and the Adaptation Co-Lead at the Canadian Association of Pharmacy for the Environment (CAPhE) Tarek is passionate about sustainable practices, digital health, social prescribing, patient safety and health quality. He is pursuing his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Toronto's Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy with a special focus on global health.
