Precision psychiatry for us all. I am the CEO and Chief Scientist at Mobio Interactive, a digital theragnostics company. Our promise is to make a major dent in the global mental health crisis. As a Principal Investigator at the Zurich Psychiatric Hospital, my lab examined molecules and brain circuits that give rise to the motivation to learn and explore. We made important discoveries on the molecular contribution of environmental exploration to spatial learning, and demonstrated an active role for the hippocampus in driving behaviour. We recently extended this research to reveal roles of cortical and subcortical nuclei in novelty-driven exploration and stress resilience. This work has allowed us to better understand the physiological relationships between exploration, stress and neuroscience diseases. Mobio Interactive now directly translates these research findings via the digital theragnostic platform, AmDTx. I firmly believe that face-to-face interaction between scientists and the broader public stands to benefit society on many levels. I have thus contributed to science outreach on several fronts, helping establish the Mount Sinai Hospital Outreach Program and serving as Editor-in-Chief of Hypothesis Journal. For these efforts, I received the inaugural Canadian Institute of Health Research Award for Mentorship. Today I speak at events around the world, including the annual AFO Science Documentary Film Festival in the Czech Republic (both the oldest and most fun science film festival on Earth).
