Eva Lau

Artist at heart, Engineer by Training, Investor as Profession

I am an entrepreneur turned investor and one of the few women who founded a venture fund in Canada. I am passionate about driving growth and empowering the startup ecosystem. I was a key founding team member at Wattpad, a revolutionary storytelling platform. During my tenure, I helped them scale the company from tens of thousands of users to tens of millions, contributing to its incredible success and market dominance. Wattpad's remarkable growth culminated in one of Canada's largest exits in the past decade when Naver in South Korea acquired the company for over US$600 million in 2021. Inspired by my operating experiences, not only at Wattpad, but also with my 20 years in tech, I turned myself into an investor and co-founded Two Small Fish Ventures, an early-stage VC fund. We back early-stage products, platforms, and protocols that transform user behaviour and empower businesses and individuals to unlock new values. I am deeply committed to identifying and supporting the next generation of groundbreaking startups, leveraging my firsthand knowledge of scaling businesses to drive their success. Beyond my role as an investor, I am an active mentor in the tech community. I find great joy in sharing my expertise and experience with aspiring founders and helping them navigate the challenges of building and growing their startups.
