I am a proud University of Waterloo alumnus. Throughout my undergraduate studies I discovered and fell in love with the field of statistics. I decided to pair this with my interest in software development and programming, and found a home in the applied computational statistics that we all know as machine learning and AI. I was fortunate to have the opportunity through undergraduate projects and co-operative work terms to explore applications of machine learning to real world data. I worked on projects using neural networks, random forests, linear and non-linear regression, and even finding insights from basic statistical analysis and visualization of data. I had the opportunity to take an open-ended problem, start from the research, and build it into a viable product solution. Through this process, I discovered a workflow that suits my skills and thought processes perfectly. Now I work to develop my professional skills, reading about new techniques and applications of data science, and thinking about how I can use them to generate value from structured and unstructured data.
