Joel Shor leads a team of Machine Learning scientists and engineers at Deep Genomics, where they've developed a world-class AI/ML platform that is accelerating drug discovery efforts.
Prior to Deep Genomics, Joel spent nearly a decade building and leading successful AI teams at Google and Verily. At Verily, he led projects that developed AI-powered tools for gastroenterology, genomic medicine, and vocal biomarkers. At Google, he helped start the AI for Social Good team in Tokyo, which developed a Covid forecasting model that was used to shape Japan's pandemic response. Joel also started Project Euphonia, which uses AI to give patients who have lost their voice due to illness the ability to communicate again, and wrote TensorFlow GAN, the TensorFlow framework for training and evaluating Generative Adversarial Networks. Joel's previous AI research experience includes text-to-speech, image compression, generative AI, and video search.
Joel studied mathematics, physics, and computational neuroscience at Princeton University.
