What do you enjoy most and what do you look forward to about your BD role?
Working with companies to scale. Helping companies to strategically align with the market, attain funding, connect with potential partners/customers, being a catalyst for growth assisting companies across Ontario.
What is your professional background?
I have worked in both the private and public sectors; always with a focus towards cutting edge/emerging technologies.
Describe your areas of specialization:
Go To Market Strategy, Technology and Financial Services: IoT/Smart Cities/FinTech.
What is your best piece of advice for a start-up or entrepreneur?
Three pieces of advice that I’ve learned from successful serial entrepreneurs:
1) Move fast/fail fast — fail fast, learn from the mistakes, pivot when required
2) The most unhappy customers are the best source of learning — listen to your customer base
3) Never give up — Today is hard, tomorrow will be worse, the next day there will be sunshine
What do you look for in a company when assessing their potential for success?
A good business idea(IP) with market pull/demand, a solid business plan and strong executive/founding team.
