Our app makes it easy to navigate cities by bus, train, foot, and bike
Our mission is to make life better without a car.
For too long, cars have been at the centre of our lives. Today, cities are embracing better ways to get around: by bus, train, bike, and foot. At Transit, we help you make the most of them so you don’t need to own a car.
When there are fewer cars, your city becomes a better place: one that's greener, more vibrant, and more joyful.
Your life is now less rushed, less financially burdened, more active, more fulfilling.
Clogged highways are being torn down to make way for tree-lined sidewalks, bike paths, and dedicated bus lanes. Streets are shedding their parking spots in favour of places to sit and eat. Gas stations are being repurposed into parks and plazas. Parking lots are getting replaced by shops and housing.
Decade by decade, block by block, our grand avenues were turned into deadly car conveyor belts. Our bustling public spaces were repurposed for vehicle storage.
Our cities and our lives can be so much more, if we just think differently about how we get around.
Cities aren’t just the most sustainable form of human settlement. They’re humanity’s greatest invention. They’re also where we call home, with inspiration at every street corner.
We know they’re far from perfect — and utterly besieged by cars — but we’re fiercely passionate about making them better places to live, raise kids, and grow old.
Cities are the ultimate work in progress. They’re rich tapestries that only get more varied and wonderful as the years go on. We feel the same way about Transit.
Sure, we’re not sculpting citadels out of stone blocks, but we always take the extra effort to make sure our work uplifts and inspires you. Whether it’s shaving a few milliseconds off our trip planning algorithm, weighing every word in a piece of writing, or taking the time to get an in-app animation just right.
We want teammates to feel connected to each other, and to be motivated towards a shared goal. Everyone is kept in the loop about the directions our work takes, and not just as a courtesy.
We're proactive in sharing the state of our finances and our plans for the future of Transit. When asked hard questions, we give straight and honest answers. Always. It’s a duty we owe to one another, and it motivates us to do our best work.
Families, friends, projects, hobbies. Trips and adventures. Marriages, funerals, breakups, illnesses. It's a given: your personal life should always come first.
It’s why we have a four-day workweek, and why we never count hours, track vacation, record sick days, or expect you to check Slack on your evenings and weekends. We let you take vacation when you want to, and do everything we can to fit into your life, not the other way around.
At Transit, it all starts with our app. But while tech platforms can be powerful agents for change, they’re just one piece of the puzzle. We’re partnered with hundreds of organizations: from transit agencies, to activist groups, to research labs, to cities themselves.
By working together, we can make car-free transportation the default way of getting around and transform our cities for the better. Forget tunnels and flying cars. We don't need to reinvent the wheel — we just need to make it run more smoothly.
