Plant Microbiome Optimization

Unlocking New Ways to Improve Plant Health and Increase Crop Yields

Our custom R&D pipeline allows us to create microbial inoculants specifically designed for hydroponic systems by selecting for microbes that are capable of thriving in the hydroponic environment. The root associated microbes in our products attach to the roots of the plant, and as such can be used with any substrate type.

Microbes play an important role in the health and well being of your plants by providing a number of benefits, including improving nutrient uptake and improving the plants stress response. Our inoculant products allow you to harness the power of these beneficial microbes to increase your crop yields and reduce negative stress effects such as leaf yellowing, leaf loss, and impaired plant growth.

With the human population set to reach 10 billion by the year 2050, we will need to produce 50-100% more food to meet the basic nutritional requirements of our growing population.

Given that agriculture currently accounts for 50% of arable land use, and 70% of fresh water use, this goal is impossible to meet using conventional farming techniques. Additionally, climate change is posing an increasing challenging to reliably grow crops due to erratic weather conditions, increasing temperatures, and higher pathogen and pest pressure.

Hydroponic controlled environment production offers a solution for sustainable and reliable fruit and vegetable production.

Plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB) increase crop yields by improving the plant’s ability to uptake nutrients and regulate stress. Unfortunately, most soil microbes cannot make the transition to the hydroponic environment. This means most hydroponically grown plants have minimal microbiomes and are missing out on the benefits these symbiotic organisms can provide.

Our company’s mission is to find the beneficial microbes that can make this transition, and use them to restore the plant microbiome that should be present in a healthy soil environment. By doing so we can help growers increase crop yields, thereby improving the global supply of fresh fruits and vegetables.
