Aquafort

Improving and Empowering

Aquafort is improving and empowering farmers’ operations and livelihood through better Micro-Financing, Product Distribution, Decision Support, Product Delivery, Farm Automation, Feed Optimization, and Farm Management. We use technology to provide crucial support to local fish farmers in urban and rural areas to improve their fish health and overall production yield and reduce their losses and overall operational cost.

We know it is challenging to run a farm. We aim to simplify and revolutionize the entire aquaculture industry for farmers and consumers by addressing some of the most prominent challenges in this industry, impacting millions of SME farmers, their families, and billions of consumers. We use advanced software and hardware technologies to empower farmers and consumers alike. We help increase farmers’ product visibility through our marketplace distribution channels while enhancing consumers’ accessibility through our product delivery channels. We help take the load off farmers’ minds so they can focus on their operations while enriching their lives and help consumers find affordable and quality food to feed themselves and their families.

We believe our technology can empower farmers to transform their farming operations into more profitable businesses and a pathway out of poverty. We work hard to enable more people to get out of poverty. We believe everyone must have access to food and clean water. We have been collaborating with various partners to empower women. We aim to close the gap in gender and race-based inequality. We are a minority-led technology impact startup. Almost half of our team members are women. We collaborate with various experts, educators, and institutions to make quality farming education accessible to all farmers.

We support the transition to land-based fish farming operations and efforts to lower the harmful exposure to virucides, pesticides & antimicrobials. We support the growth of less harmful, inland aquaculture, which produces most farmed fish (51.3 million tonnes, or 62.5 percent of the world total). We support sustainable aquaculture’s present and future and use an in-house, proprietary sustainability metrics tracker. We work hard to improve animal health and help eradicate animal cruelty.

Our goal is to advance sustainable, land-based aquaculture through accessible, high-performance technologies with no fish farmers left behind. We are a passionate team driven by a sense of purpose to tackle acute, real-world problems and a desire to deliver stellar products that address the most urgent and pressing needs for fish farmers the world over. our team has years of first-hand and on-the-ground knowledge about fish farming, technology and revenue-generating businesses in Africa, South East Asia and North America. We want to leverage our knowledge, experience and passion for improving fish farming and the aquaculture industry for everyone involved.

Aquaculture has been a sustainable food source and a solution to food insecurity for many millennia. More recently, however, many agriculture farmers have turned to aquaculture and aquaponics with two main goals in mind: to improve their overall revenue and to establish a sustainable source of food for their families and their communities. But many challenges exist in aquaculture. These challenges can be costly and, in some cases, catastrophic. For instance, fish farmers experience significant mortality events & cost overruns due to manual-based techniques, reactive treatment practices, poor buyer-seller connectivity, and lack of quality and affordable feed. The farming community also lacks a distributed consumer channel, and there’s a minimal delivery option.

Moreover, most farmers lack access to micro-lending, which is crucial for many farmers to survive and for some to become profitable and grow. This is where technology, specifically Aquafort, can lend a helping hand. Our thesis at Aquafort is to facilitate technology-based solutions that are capable of steering new and existing fish farmers to adopt more sustainable approaches that are accessible and affordable for everyone. Aquafort is not just about technology. We are all about people and community building. After all, what better way to leave a legacy than to become a beacon of hope!
